Spotterblog.com had the possibility to participate to this special event on the airside.

This Lufthansa A350 with the registration D-AIXA is the first of 25 ordered aircrafts of this type. 10 of this 25 aircrafts will find their homebase in Munich.
They will replace the very old and too less economical Airbus A340-600 in Lufthansas long haul fleet.

“The A350-900 is the cornerstone member of Airbus’ all-new A350 XWB Family, which is well-suited to meet airlines’ market requirements in medium-, long-, and ultra-long-haul operations.

As the first A350 XWB version to enter airline service, the A350-900 has the same optimized cabin cross-section as the other A350 XWB versions – which ensures maximum comfort for both passengers and crew while guaranteeing operators optimum revenue potential and operating efficiency.

This jetliner accommodates 325 passengers in a standard three-class configuration, while offering unbeatable economics in high-density seating and true long-haul capability with a range of up to 8,100 nautical miles.”

Lufthansa’s A350-900 XWB will feature a comfortable three-class cabin layout with 48 seats in Business, 21 seats in Premium Economy and 224 seats in Economy class.
The premium economy seats will be installed by Lufthansa Technic in January.
Additionally the Lufthansa A350 will set a new standard for inflight entertainment and comfort in the Lufthansa long haul fleet.

The A350 is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 engines with 374,5kN power.

The first Lufthansa A350 destinations will be Delhi in India and Boston in the USA.

From 22nd to 31st of December Lufthansa pilots did flight trainings to many airports in Germany.
On February 9th, one day before the first flight to Delhi, Lufthansa offers a special flight from Munich to Hamburg and back.

The brand new Airbus also had a special Christmas gift on board – in the name of Lufthansa employee organization “help alliance“, the orphanage in Munich was given a donation of around 10.000 Euro. The already 17-year old association is responsible for more than 140 aid projects with a donation volume of more than ten million Euros.

Despite the foggy weather, this day was a day of joy several way.
